To this day, Mass Effect is my absolute favorite game and my comfort game. When I start the first part and the music starts, it's like coming home. I was never a sci-fi fan, always into fantasy, but Mass Effect absolutely captivated me.

The Legendary edition has ruined the lightning and multiple VFX in cutscenes, especially in the first two games. We need to preserve the originals, this is top sci fi!

I remember going to a friend's house and sitting in front of the TV. He hands me the xbox controller and tells me "You are gonna love this game". I spent the next 2 hours completely consumed in the game. As a sci-fin fan, this was the kind of game I had only dreamt of. It felt a bit Star Trek, a bit Star Wars, a bit Babylon 5 and with elements from so many other stories, but somehow, it felt truly unique. The trilogy had some low points, many of them in MS3, but I was one of the rare cases that enjoyed the original ending, it felt so appropriate and a subeversion of expectations. I also enjoyed the added endings. Many games have tried to get close to its charm, but in my book, no sci fi story in video games is better than the story of my Commander Shepard.

The level of detail and depth in the characters and plot is one of the greatest in any franchise in videogame history, only a few like baldur´s gate and very few others are in the same league and i cannot think of any of those that can be considered better in that aspect. the crew is so fleshed out that they feel real, like friends, garrus, wrex or grunt would be terrific for a night in the bar drinking a beer in the real world. The point is, this saga is a point of reference in character creation and voice acting, discusing if the 1rst the 2nd or the 3rd is the better is pointless as the main plot and subplots are intertwined between the tree games and the franchise should be seen as a single game, therefore this edition with the complete trilogy should be preserved drm free for future generations of gamers and developers as a point of refference

I've always been a logical gamer. I mean that for me, no game is perfect. There is always something to damage the image, the feeling or the experience of a game. The Mass Effect trilogy changed my mind about it. I'm not saying that these games are perfect. I'm saying that after playing Mass Effect, I realized that a perfect game is not a game without any problem. It is a game that you love beyond its problems. I am aware of the criticisms: the gameplay of the first game, the end of the trilogy... And yet I come back to it at least every year since I played it for the first time. I've never been so much involved in a video game. The characters, the writing, the directing... It has always been hard for me to decide which was my favorite game, until I played Mass Effect. Being able to have it on GOG and own it for real would be absolutely awesome.

Mass Effect is still one of my favourite all time games. I still exist in fan fiction writing circles for the games and still live through the story. Its always amazing how much we aspire to good when we can.

I gotta vote for this one because of the sheer audacity of preserving the entire trilogy. Don't get me wrong, I love Mass Effect, it was my true gateway drug to BioWare, what led me to buying all the other BioWare games already on GOG, like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, KotOR, and Dragon Age. Honestly, Mass Effect still has a HUGE following, especially when it comes to mods and fixes as the years go by, and I feel that that community would be better served in a place like GOG as opposed to EA.

It's just become apparent that Bioware is dead, with barely 100 people left to work on the next installment of Mass Effect. While I was originally pleased to see the Legendary Edition, the fact that you must be logged in to play it is typical of EA and I'd like to give it a hard pass. I never got the chance to own the originals and I'd like to just be able to install and mod it as I like. If there's one game I think gog should preserve for all time, it's this trilogy.
Those games also need your vote!
Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
