Parasite Eve II

Parasite Eve II (1999)

by Square Product Development Division 5, Square USA, Square
Genres:Role-playing (RPG)
Themes:Action, Horror, Science fiction, Survival
Game modes:Single player
Story:Parasite Eve II is an action role-playing survival horror video game released exclusively for the PlayStation. The game was developed by Square and published in Japan in 1999 and in both North America and, unlike the previous game, in PAL regions in 2000. It is the sequel to Parasite Eve and the second game in the series of the same name. Parasite Eve II is set several years after the events in the original game. The protagonist from the first game, Aya Brea, also features in this game as the playable character. She becomes involved with another outbreak of Mitochondrial creatures. Gameplay diverges from the previous game: battles take place in real time and the area of action is less restrictive. The approach is more typical of traditional survival horror games, although some role-playing elements are retained.Show more

Great sequel to PE1. Nice weapons, very cool PE powers, and the music is fantastic not to mention the remixes of some of the original music. And the ending left me wanting to know what happens next
When I was a kid, my father went searching for a game labeled "for adults only"—something he could enjoy for himself. He came home with a copy of Parasite Eve 2. Obviously, he never actually played it… but I did. And sometimes, I even played it with him. This game became my all-time favorite. The combat system, the lore, the characters, the music—everything about it captivated me. I need Parasite Eve 2 on GOG. And I need GOG on PlayStation.
I only played this game recently on original hardware and i was blown away by the atmosphere that the soundtrack, the setting and the locations create. Very 90s, comparable to RE2 and 3, but still a totally different beast. Weird and unsettling at times and the combat system is kind of a hybrid of Resident Evil and Final Fantasy, which is an interesting approach, that I haven't seen anywhere else. Both games of this series are hard to come by these days and definitely need to be preserved in my opinion.

These games are a crazy tale and deserve another shot at holding a crowd and maybe even obtaining a new crowd. I believe these will get the the love they deserve if a rerelease is possible.
PE II really shines as a horror jewel that is totally replayable endless times as it brings three key features remarkable plot, puzzles and a combat likely to RE3 which i focused into horror and survivability within exellent BGM into every battle . U´ll get familiar with No9 Golem "This is literally ur nemesis in the whole game"

What made this game unforgettable? - combat, characters, replay-ability (you need to finish this game around 12 times to get good stuff) Why do you want this game on GOG? - so I dont have to run PS1 emulators and keep on loosing my save files any time I upgrade hardware or reinstall Windows and forget to transfer saves. Cloud saves is what we need.

For me this is a really unique and well designed survival horror RPG that, alongside the original Parasite Eve really hold up as PS1 classics and there aren't many other games like them. I remember borrowing both games off a friend as a kid but the disc for PE2 was scratched to hell and would freeze every time it loaded into Dryfield, so I would just replay the Akropolis section over and over again. Replaying it years later I fell in love with the combat system, learning how to score critical hits with the Luger and the M4 bayonet, replaying the NG+ modes to get all the cool unlocks, and even trying my hand at speedrunning! Seeing Dino Crisis 1 and 2 remastered on GOG gives me hope that these absolute banger games from the PS1 can be given new life and introduced to a whole new generation.
Those games also need your vote!
Lost Odyssey
Lost OdysseyLost Odyssey is set in a world in which a "Magic-Industrial Revolution" is taking place. While magic energy existed in all living creatures beforehand, it suddenly became far more powerful thirty years before the beginning of the game. Because of this, it has affected society greatly, with devices called "Magic Engines" harnessing this power for lighting, automobiles, communication, and robots, among other uses. While previously only a select few could wield magic, many magicians gained the ability. However, such progress has also caused two nations to develop new and more powerful weapons of mass destruction. The kingdom of Gohtza and the Republic of Uhra (which recently converted from a monarchy). Uhra is building Grand Staff, a gigantic magic engine, while the heavily industrialized Gohtza actively pursues magic research of their own. A third nation, the Free Ocean State of Numara, remains isolated and neutral, though it is falling into disarray due to a general attempting to stage a coup d'etat. Uhra, at war with Khent, a nation of beastmen, sends its forces to the Highlands of Wohl for a decisive battle at the start of the game.

Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy VIIIFinal Fantasy VIII is the eighth main installment in the Final Fantasy series. The gameplay makes a departure from many series standards. While it still uses the Active Time Battle system, it deviates from the series' traditional means of boosting a character's power via leveling, although levels are not completely abandoned as they were in Final Fantasy II. In addition, it does not have a Magic Point-based system for spell-casting. Instead, magic is collected, drawn, and created from items, and is used to power up the characters via the junction system.
