I have it around my entire screen and I'm not sure why. It didn't seem to be there when I first launched the game, only after I changed some graphics settings... but I went back over them and nothing implied that it enabled such a thing.
I have too. But my is around my entire screen like JakobFel. A black box. ¬¬

Apparently Dx11 version of the game works fine, just missing the Ray Tracing feature.

Seems like a common problem then? Huh.

Yes, but it lacks the new gameplay tweaks and features AFAIK.

I am also experiencing the same problem.
The problem only occurs in Direct12, not in Direct11.

I've solved the problem.
If you click Ctrl+Alt+Z key in game and GeForce Experience screen appears, Settings -> Performance Monitoring -> Always Show Reflex Flash Indicator off and it will disappear from the screen.

Unfortunately, this didn't change anything for me, as I already had that setting off.

You won't know until you check the screen of the problem, but if the above doesn't fix it, at least it's likely a problem with the game, not the GeForce Experience settings.

It must be, because yeah, I tried various different things and it didn't seem to work. I'll give it another go in a bit, as I'm planning to play for a bit.

EDIT: Just tried it again, still no dice sadly. Glad your suggestion worked for others though! Hopefully CDPR fixes it soon.

This is still happening to me. Probably others still. I know it is a niche issue. Sounds like a strange scaling issue.

Look at the botton right, you can see what I'm talking about.
EDIT
Well don't I have a big goose egg.

So for me this Worked.

my fix for DX12 (direct x 12 ) witcher 3 utlrawide black bars is as follows.

open your dx12user.settings

change your resolution to Resolution="2544x1060"

now, here comes to the frustrating part....

so I changed mine to full screen, and it was some kind of blurred monstrosity.

I changed it to borderless window, it did work!

here's the really annoying part.

you have to change to full screen back to borderless window every time you do this.

this isn't acceptable...

this should get fixed... weird that it hasn't.
