TwoShooz4Lfe: Recently, I've noticed that Witcher 3 has been receiving hundreds of bad reviews on Steam. Some reviews claim the game has clunky gameplay but what bothers me are the ones claiming that CDPR are racist. The customers are writing about some Gwent player from China who was banned for cheating as well as some other racist claims. The review score on steam was 97% but the recent reviews have dropped it down to 89%. I feel like these reviews are disturbing and unnecessary but wanted to see what your opinions are on this and what actions can be taken?
Thanks
Just claiming some people say it's racist doesn't really tell us much. Did they give any actual reasons or evidence? Because just pointing to some player from China who was banned for cheating really doesn't tell us much (maybe he really was cheating). Tbh I haven't played Witcher 3 yet... I only played Witcher 1 & 2 so far, but I don't see any actual evidence of racism in this series.
I mean yeah the games aren't filled with black characters to "check boxes" and satisfy sjws, but that doesn't mean it's "racist." There aren't any black characters in Kingdom Come: Deliverance either but most people would agree that makes sense because the game is based on medieval European society where blacks generally didn't exist, so including them wouldn't even make sense.
I actually like this aspect of the series because seeing black characters in fantasy games loosely based on medieval Europe makes me feel like they were only really put there to satisfy sjws, ruins my game immersion, and it makes me enjoy the game less.
And even if the devs did have different views, so what? I don't think it's important that everyone agree on everything. We can all still enjoy a game even if it was made by devs with unusual opinions on social issues imo. If the gameplay, story, and graphics are good, we should be able to enjoy the game anyway.
