Dear all,
maybe you can help me with this:

I downloaded the game „the witcher 3“ with GOG and tried to start the game then, but nothing happend. The „play“ button just turns from green to grey and then green again.

I already tried to unistall and reinstall the game but without success.
What do I have to do?

Hi ntfx,

This is a common problem and some solve it by deleting a couple of GOG relented files in the game folder, which is covered in some forum threads you could google.

However what generally works for me is removing my xbox or games controller and restarting the PC, loading TW3, then on the splash screens plugging it back in.

If this doesnt solve your problem and you can't find the threads I will link them.

Good luck
@ garymacmath: Would you pls send me the threads. I didn´t find the right one yet.

In the meantime I tried to:
- start GOG/TW3 as administrator
- set screen to 640x480
- set compatibility to other Windows versions (usually w10)
- repair over GOG tool
- reset NVIDIA

If anybody has another idea I would be happy to know.
From your description that the play button turns from green to grey and back to green, it sounds like something on your system is preventing proper startup and doing it silently at that. The prime candidate for such behaviour is security software such as antivirus, firewall or even Windows Defender. Disable (temporarily) any security software you have. Also, be certain that your games (*all* of them) are never installed to the Windows protected folder structure of 'Program Files' / 'Program Files (x86)'. Be also sure that you have access permissions for the folder that the game is installed to.
