It ist? That's very ärgerlich. :P

First of all, I'd try lowering the water quality. Put it on "low" and check if that makes any difference.

Does swimming always crash the game, and do you experience crashes during other situations?

I can try it with the water quality and the game never crashes while other situations
Now i can say it doesn't help to set the water quality on low :/

Does it crash as soon as you enter the water, or only after you swim around for a while? Is it kind of random? Does it happen while you dive, or also while you're just swimming on the surface? Does water in general cause these crashes, or only once you enter it?

Also, what are your GPU and CPU specs? Did you check your graphics card statistics after the crash -- anything unusual, like very high temperatures? ( Also, did you overclock your GPU? )

Is the game fully patched up, and are your graphics card drivers up to date?

So far I only encountered one crash myself, and several of those "freezes" which mostly happen in the inventory. ( But supposedly those have been fixed in recent patches. )

It is random but it is happening every time. sometimes earlier and sometimes when i want to go out of the water. The game is fully patched up i downloaded the 500 mb patch 2 days ago. I hoped that it would be better after it... There is nothing special about my graphics card after the crashes.
Are you using an AMD card?

According to this discussion: https://steamcommunity.com/app/292030/discussions/0/617335934148642634/

... a driver update might fix the issue.

Other than that, if the problem persists, contact CDPR support directly. If it's caused by the game, then they'll probably patch it up soon.

I suspected as much. Apparently other AMD users had similar problems, and a driver update fixed it for them. Good luck!

Hah, good to hear, enjoy the game! Lesson learned: When in doubt, try to update your drivers and download all the latest patches. :P

You can mark that link to the Steam discussion as solution, I guess, so it's easier to find for others having the same problem.

I've experienced it too, and managed to solve it as well.
Here's the deal, the issue for me was caused by DirectX12, specifically first time running this game thru DX12.

So what I did was run the game thru DirectX11, and this is it, this is the trick. However if you want to play your game with DX12 there seems to also be a solution:

- Run the game on DX11, enter the water so that geralt is swimming and save the game.

- Now reload that save on a DX12 .exe; from now on you should never have this problem again, hope it works for you. Have fun.
