Howdy!

I was just wondering about what I should expect from this game in general. I found it while browsing through games similar to Skyrim and Fallout 4, but it seems a drastically different from the visuals perspective. Any insight without spoilers would be highly appreciated.

Hi. I've never played skyrim (although i own it) or fallout, so i can't answer your visuals question. what i can tell you is this is one of the best games in existence. the storyline is intriguing and believable, the scenery and art is amazing and there are hundreds of quests- main, side, contracts and treasure hunting available. the playthrough is easy enough to follow and some of the stories/quests are very peculiar, indeed funny, but the variety is what makes the game so enjoyable. i'm sure most people would agree with me in saying that purchasing this game is worth every dollar spent on it. the overall 'look' of the game (in terms of graphics) is spectacular- the developers did a fantastic job.

2 small recommendations/suggestions:

1. playing TW1 and TW2 will help to give you information and insight into some of the happenings and goings on of the TW3 but isn't overly necessary and doesn't really affect the game play of TW3

2. buying the GOTY version is a better option, as it contains all the extra DLCs and the 2 expansions all in the one installation.

If you like reading may I also recommend the Witcher books. They are excellent, well written.

There are a number available in English. The recommended reading sequence is:

The Last Wish
Sword of Destiny
Blood of Elves (beginning of novels)
Time of Contempt
Baptism of Fire
The Tower of Swallows
Lady of the Lake

The first two can be read on their own and give you most of the background you will need, including explanations for a number of situations you will come across in The Witcher games.

Witcher 3 is probably one of the best games I've played ever. Visually, it leaves Skyrim and Fallout 4 looking at its tail lights. Skellige is visually astounding, especially if you take the time to climb some of the taller mountains (despite some rumors, yes the mountains in Skellige are climbable, some of them take patience and effort though!)

I have both Skyrim and FO4, but honestly I haven't even looked at them since I started Witcher 3 . As was mentioned in previous posts, The Witcher and Witcher 2 are both well worth purchasing and playing, and are a suberb lead in to the world of Geralt of Rivia. They are both very good games in their own right as well. If you fall in love with the lore, then Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher books are well worth the purchase. In my opinion, he has done almost as good a job in developing the lore of the Witcher as Tolkien did with Middle Earth.
