I keep on having random crashes for no reason at all. Game will just shut down with no error report or file containing the reason. Usually happens when an objective is done or cutscene starts or ends or before or after loading or even whenever. Is there a way to stop this?

I've been playing for well over a month and if I've had any CTD's I don't recall them...;) Game is solid as a rock for me.

Have you by chance installed any mods for the game? If so, remove them. Buggy mods--or mods that conflict with other mods--are cause #1 behind all CTD's. In Skyrim, for instance, my game refused to load past the first loading screen--it would simply CTD with no explanation. I had to disable all of my mods and then reactivate them one at a time before I discovered the mod(s) that were causing the problem...! Another instance of CTD in Skyrim was caused by a single mode--a fire-arrow mod being incompatible with the bow that just so happened to be my favorite...;)

If you have no mods installed (and I love mods, don't let this put you off of them), then it's something else...something most likely in your system and not the game itself. When asking for technical help a requirement is that you very specifically list your hardware components and your OS, etc. It really isn't possible to provide aid otherwise, unless it happens to be a universal problem fixed by a patch, etc.

AMD A10 5800k 4ghz(not great i know)
XFX HD7970 3bg
16gb Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
Win7 ultimate 64bit service pack 1
Catalyst 15.8 beta drivers
Ocz vertex SSD with game installed on it.
Temps on cpu dont go over 50c during load and gpu never goes over 65c
any help would be apreciated

what helped some people to reduce the crashes:
get "msi afterburner" and use it to underclock your gpu and vram.

sounds silly, but reduced the crashes on one of my machines from every 10 minutes to once every two hours.

Really not that silly...;)...one of the most common causes of game instability that is not software related is a PSU which is deficient in some fashion--when a rail fails, down goes the game. When we reduce the MHz of the of the gpu we reduce the power requirements of the gpu when we do so...so if that works for you then the likely cause of the instability is a PSU that needs replacing....With an adequate PSU, reducing the MHz would have no effect.

Take a look at GPU-Z and observe the differences between the amperages consumed when idling and then at full speed during a game--normally around 10-11x as much amperage required for a demanding game versus idling! When ramping back on the MHz less power is required, etc. A better PSU with improved amperage numbers on all rails should solve that particular problem...

Game works fine here, update your drivers.

This is not Skyrim, you really don't wanna compare the buggy Skyrim Engine, with the one used on The Witcher 3.

Skyrim CTD's even without mods.

I switched my game's channel to Overlay (under "Configure") and I had a ton of CTDs. I switched it back and it's running as good as new. Did you also switch to Overlay?

For me it wasn't temperature or PSU related.

I got two identically built machines.
One never crashed, the other every 10 minutes.
I did several tests and even changed PSU and graphics board between them... problem persisted.
After downclocking, the problem almost went away.

But after 25 years in IT i know that sometimes you shouldn't try to understand everything if you want to keep your sanity.

I had the same problem, in my case it was the driver of the graphic card and I know at least one other person who also had this problem.

I don't mean that the driver is too old, I mean that it's probably bugged.
That happens sometimes.
When I had that problem I also had the latest driver.
