Do you have to have the expansion pack installed to play Hearts of Stone or just the Wild Hunt base game?

I've got it downloaded and all, but I'm honestly scared to patch 1.08 to 1.11

My first playtrough was so wonderfully problem-free, I really don't want any changes to the game in 1.11... but without patch, obviously no HoS...

I wouldn't worry to much. 1.11 seems very stable. I did not encounter any bugs with the complete HOS playthrough.

I played HoS on 1.10 no probs. I installed it on a game I had finished the main quest. Not New Game +. I'm still on 1.10.

I can't wait to play it. I am only at level 16 in my current game, but I explored most of the new areas, and got some new gwent cards. I wasn't expecting them to actually expand the map but the expanded it a lot. They give you an entire lake and river bustling with estates and little homesteads and ruins and wilderness. I was seriously impressed. Of course I had to run for my life because even the nekkers and wild dogs were level red ???
