All,

I meet the minimum CPU requirement (Phenom II 940) but not the GPU requirement (6770)

If I upgrade my Video Card to say, the recommended GPU (R9) how much of a drag on performance will my CPU cause?

I would assume this is more GPU than CPU driven.

Thank you and sorry if this has already been asked and answered.

I have a AMD A8-5600K which is slightly below minimum requirements. I run the game without any problems on high settings, 1680x1050 resolution, and 30-40 FPS. The game doesn't seem to use a lot of CPU. I have alt-tabbed a couple of times and looked at CPU-usage, and it's usually around 40 %, sometimes it's slightly more, but I've never seen the game use more than 60 %.

CPU-usage is probably a bit more if you aim for a little more than my settings though, say, something like 1920x1080 and 60 FPS.
I don't think the cpu would bottle out before the new gpu still but I don't know for sure.
The more important question is probably if you are running ddr2 or ddr3 memory on it.

Also the phenom clocks decently well as long as you have enough cooling for it, lest my old 940 black did.

I am running 8 gigs of DDR3 memory. I am not concerned about my ram. Given my budget limitations at present, a full motherboard/CPU/GPU upgrade is not in the cards. I am looking at grabbing an R7 260X as a compomise between price and performance.

I'm running an A10-6800K with an R7 265 and 8gbs ddr3

It runs really well with everything on medium at 1080p. There is some occassional stuttering but I think it's more of a driver issue.

I would recommend waiting before buying any gpu. AMD is set to announce their new line of cards in a little under 2 weeks. And then the new cards will be on sale a few weeks after that.

This will make it cheaper to get the 2xx series or give you the option to upgrade to the 3xx series which may give you a better experience. I personally plan on trying to pickup a R9 380 and then waiting til AMD releases their new line of CPU's early next year before rebuilding.

Good advice. And thank you all for your replies.
