MrRealfield: I cant hear geralts voice at all during the game, and during cutscenes the voices are like distant echos, barely noticable.
I play the game on low preset, if that has an effect.
Please help :(
This is normal unfortunately...it's a bug that has never been addressed.
The solution is really simple, you have to enable the "loudness" feature from your audio card/onboard audio or directly from windows.
I apologize since the instructable image is in my native language.
1) If you have a Realtek Audio chip on your motherboard (like me) you have to click on the Realtek HD Audio icon in the right part of your windows task bar, so you can enter in the Realtek control panel (see pic attached).
Under the main tab of your speakers, select the "Sound Effects" tab and check the "Loudness equalization" box to activate it. (remember to uncheck it when you finish playing the game)
2) if you don't have it or if you're not sure, just right click on the windows volume icon in the task bar and select "Properties" or "Playback devices", then when you're under the "Playback" tab double click speakers to open the speakers properties window and then look for "Loudness equalization" under the "Enhancements" tab, then check it to activate it. (remember to uncheck it when you finish playing the game)
That's it.
