I've seen the game plus the expansion pass costs 90 €. That is a lot of money for a videogame, and I'd like to know how this price is justified from people who have paid and are playing the game first hand (obviously not the expansion).

This is an honest question, I'm not trying to troll.

I'd also like to extend the question to the regular version of the game at 60 €. I know this is a price tag a lot of AAA games carry nowadays, but regardless of comparisons, is the game worth what is essentially more than I pay a in month of gas?

Honest answer: For me, not yet. Once the keybinding/movements issues are fixed, I will probably give a different answer.
(Also, why buy it at an expensive place if you can get it for ~30?) Depends on whether you are going to play it more hours than you spend driving around each month, innit.

Well, the game didn't cost 60 € für those who expected a good game and pre-buyed it. I think it was with witcher 1 and 2 discount about 35€. (And you still can get it cheaper even in trustworthy shops as above was mentioned)

Good games do not necessary cost much money. But games with full profecional synchronisation and cinematic presentation do. And as far as I can tell: The content of this game is huge. There is a video on youtube whrere a synchron speaker compares his work for the game with work for movies. Whatch it and you know one part, why games such as Witcher 3 have a price.

I don't think it's good to compare an entertainment products price with something more essentially to living.
My opinion compared to other things are something like this:
Compared to cinema: More than worth it. *)
Compared to other games: Mostly worth it. If you are short on money consider buying a cheaper title. There are many out there.
Compared to good books: equally worth it. **)

*) I think cinema is to expensive for the amount of advetisment they show.
**) I really like books. But books are often expensive in germany compared to other countries.

Yeah, the price is higher now but before (during pre-order phase) it was much lower and you could also have an added discount for each game of the Witcher series already owned on GOG. I ended paying it 43€. It's still a bit more than I would have paid (considering I don't have a job, yet), but now that I'm playing it I think's it's totally worth compared to other sources of good entertainment ;)

The expansion is optional and the content will not be released anytime soon, it will include two adventures both worth a combined time of 30hrs gameplay. They will first release the planned free DLC and polish the game first. It was actually discounted by 10% or more for preorder, hence the price went up after release. You can; however, get it cheaper if you simply buy a retail copy through amazon for example and insert the key in GOG, which will then allow you to download and install the digital copy instead of using the dvds provided.
If you ask me the price is justified as it is a stellar game and CD Projekt Red always ends up delivering a polished version in the end and they label "enhanced". Without the expansion you will roughly have 200hrs of gameplay according to them. I'm reaching my 60th hour and am nowhere close to done.

Really, for a 100+ hour videogame that doesn't have as much repetition as games that provide 1/5 of that playtime, this game should cost more. And if it did, and people were willing to pay for it, we only would've had a bigger, more varied, more interesting RPG.

I've always felt that what most gamers are willing to spend on games is what's holding them back the most. RPGs are bigger games and *should* cost more, but for some reason, people think they should cost as much as derivative sequels that reuse the majority of assets from the last game.

Oh well.

The price for this game is negligible. There are so many things to do. Quests are well-written. You don't have that feeling of "get this shite for me will you knoblicker."

I have it on Steam which was offered cheaper in my country.

This game offers more content than any game of a similar genre has ever offered.
(with alle the dlcs and fanmods some games are probably on a similar level, until the dlcs for the witcher arrive)
the prize is definitly justified (i spent 60 hours in the game, i have done less than 50% of the content)

If you compare it to dragon age: inquisition it gets easy to judge.
The witcher 3 is much better overall in almost all ways, and it also has a lot, A LOT more content than dragon age inquisition.
If the game would cost 120€ and you could not get it cheaper anywhere it would still be worth to buy it.

So ..I play the game for the 10th day (50-60h ? ..I don't count..), and I'm at 25% completion. At a similar stage, the last Dragon Age began to be boring to me ..I just dropped it, and never came back.
With this game? ..I just can't stop ..I'm addicted ..it's such a huge and rich world, the quests are uncomparable, and above all - it's a great continuation of the story from the novel, witch didn't have a proper ending as for me.
Sure it has also some bugs, a couple not too well designed mechanics, and even a few steps back compared to the previous Witcher.
But the developer has already proven that he cares about his games, and is not afraid to redesign things in later patches.
If you want to play a issue-free game ..wait a couple months - in my case - I know I will replay it, so it doesn't matter that much to me ..I want to play it now ..and play more
