i dont know how many of you have played a while with a mouse and a while with a controller but i have and i need to say that the controller has a significant advantage over the mouse and that's with the targeting\locking system.

with the mouse you change the person you are attacking (target) by moving the camera around, which doesnt make sense in THIS game. In WAY to many cases u change targets when what you really wanna do is plan the rest of your attack or just see who's circling you, or lose the target if a second AI is moving in your way making u attack the target BEHIND and not hitting either. the weird unfriendly targeting system with the mouse is causing a lot of unwanted issues during the otherwise great combat system, IMO.

however with a controller it's much harder to move the camera around to lock on other enemies since the human right thumb can either press the attack button OR move the camera. not both at the same time. because of this the targeting system with a controller is different. you push the LEFT stick towards the enemy u want to attack and the targeting STICKS to that enemy as long as u are not trying to move geralt towards another enemy. this is the same targeting system we're accustomed to from many other games and, personally, i dont see any disadvantage of it compared to the mouse targeting system. (the only semi disadvantage was when geralt couldnt block 360 degrees in the prologue so u needed to quickly change targets but i am not sure this isnt working with a controller since at THAT part i was playing with a mouse).

i am aware that with the mouse i can lock into a target but with a controller it's hardly necessary! that's the point.

my question and request is - can CDPR allow us an option to have the same sticky targeting system that the controller has (meaning- i select the enemies i target by pressing WASD)?
maybe modders could do that, but i doubt it.

What do you guys think?

End of the day you still end up fighting from weird angles like Geralt facing towards the camera or fighting enemies to his immediate left/right. I just wish it was easier to switch opponents because sometimes you'll have a group and lock on to one enemy thinking he's rushing you. Then he hangs back and another guy gets closer and you can't quickly get the thing to select the nearer guy.

Firing signs without a solid lock on is a crapshoot too usually.
that's what im saying - with a controller the lock on system is a lot more reliable. its not perfect but its better. u can switch from enemy to enemy , hitting one guy and quickly spinning to hit another guy behind you, all without moving the camera. it's much more convenient and this is how it should have been with the mouse!

My idea was to replace "lock" key with "unlock" key, which would make a targed locked as long as it stays within range, or a player presses "unlock" key to select another target. Also crosshair would be nice for that.
no.
i dont think the UNLOCK idea is good. too often u wanna switch targets.

just let us chose our target by moving towards it and there are 2 targets on the same LINE from geralt than he needs to lock to the closest one otherwise he misses both of them.

but this is kinda how it IS with a controller. if this was the case with the mouse\kb than i dont think ppl would complain the targeting system is finniky cuz it wont change the enemy u r attacking if u just move your mouse.
