I'd happily pre-order, but I don't want to pay $45 for something that might not run on my computer. How soon until we find out the Minimum System Reqs?

Thanks for the link, however it is unclear if these are the Recommended or Minimum Reqs. Websites often tend to post the Recommended pre-launch and not the latter. I visited the Steam store myself, and no delineation was made.
I think those are minimum.

I think in order to play it on high/very high settings, you need a more powerful machine than that. After all, for what I have seen, it will be a very graphic intense modern AAA title, plus all the AI, physics and other aspects of the engine, I expect it to demand a powerful machine.

But on the other hand, I believe in the developers anyways, in that the will try not to make it a system hog as much as possible, and make it very scalable also.

A recommendation isn't the same as a requirement, and the single set of specs on the Steam Store page is subtitled "System Requirements".

Assuming that means "well, kinda sorta maybe you can get by with less" only sets yourself up for failure. If anything, I'd expect the specs to raise up as we approach launch, but I'm pessimistic that way.

I'd love to the play the Witcher 2, but it looks like the minimum reqs for the processor speed is a 2.2 ghz dual core.

I bought an Alienware M11x last April. My processor is an overclocked 1.7 ghx core 2 duo. Should I even attempt to run Witcher 2 on it? I'm not really looking to spend $45 on something that won't work either...
i found when i went to plat the witcher on my computer which i had upgraded and in the process got windows 7 installed i could not play it. it needed new drivers. i can still play it on my old machine which i have kept but wondering if i wil have the same problem with the witcher 2?

That really depends on what it really needs. I remember back in 2004, I still had an old P-II 400 MHz and I tried Spiderman: The Movie (which requires, according to the system requirement a P3 -500 MHz). The game ran flawlessly because I had a very good (at the time) graphic card (ATI Radeon 9000 with 64 MB of VRAM).

I guess we'll have to wait until the launch. Minimum system requirements didn't changed that much for the past 4 years (except for graphic cards).
My system meets or beats the stated requirements in every area, except the Video Card, where I'm not sure. ATI Mobility Radeon 5650, with 1 GB of video memory.
Did anyone have the chance to play W2 on an Alienware M11x? I also got the 1,7 Ghz core 2 duo version and would love to know if it's playable...
