Hi

I have pre ordered the Witcher 2 from GOG.COM (Not yet had a chance to convert this in to a proper order as I need to get access to a decent internet connection first). Looking at the patch notes for the game it says the patch will be automatically applied when I launch the game. This is where my problem is as my personal internet connection is so bad (slow, v.low 4GB a month cap, intermittent connection etc) that I don't have it connected to my games PC and so the auto update would be of no used to me. Have I just missed the links or is it not possible to update the game via more conventional means of say downloading the patch from a working internet connection, transferring it to my games PC and installing?

Would the DLC download and installation be unavailable to me too?

Thanks
There have been numerous people who said the day one patcher that runs immediately after install does not require an internet connection.

I'm not sure how you'd get the DLC if you didn't use the internet though. The DLC is like not even 8 mb, so I'm not sure it's something you should worry about downloading though.

both are no, you will not get patches or dlc without a internet connection. the game is already patched to the latest tho.

Unfortunately at this stage it looks like the game is not totally DRM free. If you want patches you will have to activate like all the other versions. (Online Registration is activation to me.)

So far I am having no problems (Apart from not being able to find my way now) so for me I do not need a patch yet, but others are having problems.

Hopefully at the end of the game they will release another installer with all / any patches included for us GoG purchasers. If they don't they will no longer be able to claim DRM free.

If you do not have a good internet connection and have not played The Original Witcher, it may be a better buy.

DRM FREE guys! : D

Damn, looks like I will have to wait a couple of years to a final fully patched version is released or I finally manage to get a decent internet connection. Its a pity they felt the need to have the 'register for patches' (Which in my opinion is a form of DRM) in. Hopefully they will be released as stand alone installers eventually.

Thanks for everyone help
