Yup, Yrden, Yrden, Yrden.

Yrden one, go after the other, rinse & repeat. They'll one-hit-kill you, don't allow it to happen.
Just done this part and found a very easy trick to kill them.

Just attack from afar and youll get the special animation and by the time you land your hit the

wraith will swing in the air ,roll back and attack again till they're dead.

Have quen up all the time, sometimes the 2nd wraith manages to get a hit on you.

Pretty much killed every wraiths that way without getting hit.
When i went there, i was......once.....i came back later with better equipment and another couple of levels and showed them some pain!

blacklimoband: Doing the "Claws of Madness" quest, and... OMFG... those wraiths!!! I still haven't found the right strategy for dealing with these mongrels. Any advice?
run away, single them out, use block effectively. don't expect to click spam your way to victory. play smart
Yes they were hard as hell. I only used quen (the shield sign) this gave my to oppertunity to roll in and hit a wraith 2 to 3 times.

Make sure that you always try to seperate them as much as possible and keep on rolling and attacking, rolling and attacking.

Also i used 3 potions (one for signs, swallow for health and golden oriole i think) in combinition with 2 oils that increased the damage of my silver sword!

Are you playing on Insane? Because I'm playing on hard and can eat three hits (make it 5-6 with Quen). Don't have a point in Swordsmanship either, in case there's damage reduction stuff in there.

No, Normal. They were one-hit kills, the damage probably amplified by being from behind.

blacklimoband: Thanks for all the tips guys... the roll, roll, roll, quick strike, rinse, repeat technique was keeping me alive for a little while, but I just couldn't seem to do much damage to them, and in the end I kept running out of health.

I'll try the Axii thing out and see how it goes.

Soylent: Did you get the wraith book?
avatar
blacklimoband: I haven't seen this item as yet. Where do you find it?
I found a wraith book in the bookstore in town, the one across from the smith
Thanks for the tips guys...

I got this one finished last night. Leveled up a little before I retried this one (finished a few other side quests). Having that 1 extra vigor helped a lot though I think. I was able to pop a Quen (and keep it up as required), snared 1 with Yrden and charmed his boyfriend with Axii, then just whacked on em a couple of times, roll, etc..

BTW thanks for the tip on Spectre Oil whoever that was, made the job a lot easier.

It's a refreshing change to have a player community that is full of helpful souls :) Thanks again!!

edit: @ Soylent: just got the book. Thanks :)

Thanks All - thought my experience was over :) I Quen'ed and spammed the silver sword with quick strokes. Once you get him on the run, easy peasy and turn to the next (re-quen). I avoid the direction keys and let the software guide my hits - just as good (if not better) than the W1 methods.
biggest problem i had was being backslapped....that 200% is lethal till you negate it a bit
I fought Wraiths at the burned down mental hospital.

Are these the same ones you are talking about?

If so, they are pretty easy. I had to retry 6 times but I finally found out their weakness.

They are weak to fast style attacks, just keep focus on one target and spam fast attacks they will have no chance to react. But most of the time they come in pairs, so use the trap and stun one, then focus down the other. Also remember to keep dodging when you are fighting both of them.. Get a few hits in, and dodge constantly till u can get ur next trap up. Always remember to focus down and kill 1 first, instead of attacking both alternately. Its very important to have 1 vs 1 for these guys, its the best way to kill them.

Going into the fight I had Cat potion, and Rook potion on myself.
I got wraith-raped like 20 times on my first playthrough (hard). On my second playthrough today (also hard) I didn't die once, and I didn't even use any traps, bombs oils, and only two potions, instead of three on my first playthrough.

Weird!

If I remember righlty I jumped down and bombed the crap out off the first one. Bomb, roll bomb. Then just parry and axii the second. Same with second group. 3rd lot were one at a time for me.
It was that second room in the hospital that gave me fits. The first room at least gives you some breathing room and you can lay traps before they spawn if you're cheesy. The second room has that weird thing where you drop down and the camera focuses on Geralt's face not letting you keep aware of the dangers since they spawn as soon as your feet touch the floor. It's the tight space that makes that second room so dangerous. You could have one Wraith in your sights but then a pillar gets in the way and by the time you compensate the other dude is right on you. You can try to toss a quick bomb but you'll either miss or be too close and take damage. That was a tough room
