Leteia: No, I think he was playing on that mode so it has to be a thing way more easy. Most of the mainstream gamers have no patience for this type of gameplay believe me.
I love the video after that when he says that the block doesn't work and keeps complying about that. Of course parry doesn't work Geralt has no vigor LOL
mjharper: Aha. Never played CoD, not my cup of tea.
So I guess that would be something like 'You don't even need to be conscious to beat this' mode?
If they want a more large audience, then yes a more easy mode is key.
ArxRocks: The video author is right though. The combat is rather horrible. Did you not see how enemies still attack even when he had dodged and was half way across the battle area? That's not advanced AI and no tactics come into play. You just need to stay away from groups and attack enemies who aren't anywhere near the group. That's not fun and not many games have ever used such a system. This means you are constantly running around and kiting. Just check most of the gameplay videos. Everyone is kiting which shows how the combat system has failed.
This game may have good parts but just like with The Witcher 1, it suffers with poor combat. Enemies do more damage than Geralt despite him being a mutant who is supposed to be stronger than humans. Enemies don't even take good damage when you hit them.
I don't find fun in games where you must kite and this game was obviously developed with consoles in mind due to the QT events and menus.
Seems most PC RPGs are going down this route nowadays. Even Skyrim has been dumbed down from the last TES game (which I hated anyway). I put my trust in Dark Souls. That's a game that rewards you with true challenges and unlike with The Witcher, you feel like you have actually improved your character.
Done here.
I agree that the parry needs some improvement but as for the rest no. There is a skill that gives you a more large distances when rolling so that is not really a problem and believe me I rarely roll most of the time I use quen and parry. Overall I like the approach to combat, they just need to improve it a little.
