It feels like tossing a ping pong ball around, flare ricochet is really bad. It shouldn't bounce more than a foot or 2 from where you aim it to land. More often than not I toss a flare, it looks like it has entered a pinball machine, and then dissapears into some little nook or crany never to be seen again.
What is it supposed to do anyway? It doesn't light the area and help you see in the dark Dwarven mines and any other area is too bright anyway.
No it does, when it actually lands somewhere useful lol. It illuminates an area like a wall torch or brazier does
I tried it a couple of times in my first run, but found that it acts more like a high beam in your rear view mirror - blinding, making everything else around it even darker. Never even got the formula for it the second time around.
There use is fairly minimal. I have only tried them out in the Vergen mines. It would be nice if instead of throwing them strait to the area you can aim them, but instead you toss them high in the air and they float to the ground where you aim, illuminating a large portion of the area as they slowly make their way to the ground.

Would be nice if nighttime in the forest or on a moonless night was really dark and would make the flares more useful, but as is it never seems to be worse than twilight and Witchers are supposed to be able to see in the dark anyway.
