This game looks pretty great om Ultra with Uber off, but AMAZING with it on.

Unfortunately, I only have one 5870, so running Ubersampling in its current state is impossible, but I'd like to have some options for "real" MSAA (not that shader based thing in the graphics options that leaves my game full of jaggies).

Do you think this will happen (as in, is it possible with this engine, or do we have another X-Ray engine situation)?

Or, better yet, has anyone found a way to force AA? I can force AF (to get rid of those blurry textures), but running this game @ 1680x1050 with the built-in faux AA leaves an otherwise gorgeous game full of jaggies, and it's starting to really get on my nerves.

I think you will have to wait for a driver update, I am running Nvidia and the normal "Override Application Settings" works for AA as well as AF. I am set to 8x on both and it looks pretty good, the AA seems to work better on the environment though, for example my sword still has some jaggies in the blood channel and small stuff like that. Foliage and everything is pretty crisp though.
Just a note: overriding application settings in Catalyst Control Center (or whatever) will make the game unplayable on most--maybe even all--ATI cards. You'll just end up with pink fog.
oh, well then don't do that lol
For AMD/ATI cards you have to use Radeon Pro http://www.radeonpro.info/en-US/ and I made a custom profile for Witcher 2.

I set AA to ENHANCE application setting ...then I enabled Edge detect AA ...and it seemed to work great and no jaggies at all..

Here are my exact settings in Radeon Pro:

Then I used these settings for the game:

I have CrossfireX HD6870's ...the crossfire works I have tested it....so if your on a single card these settings may be a slideshow ....but it wont hurt to try them..
To me the problem is the AF with the last drivers of Nvidia at least . The MLAA or similar mode of AA work fine to my ,

Sorry I forgot to add ....with Radeon Pro .....if you select the Call of Juarez DX10 crossfire profile the game runs really decently ....for the crossfire users.. without changing any of the settings I showed in the pics..

You're a lifesaver. I still get about 45+ fps (no real performance loss), which makes me wonder why they didn't include traditional AA from the get go.

One question: Enhance application settings isn't there, so I just went with "Application settings", and set it to 8x.

Anything special I need to do to make it appear?

Well when I installed Radeon Pro it asked me if I wanted to enable hidden features of my graphics card ..so I was like "hell yeah!" ..lol ..

Then that's where that Enhance application setting option showed up..

I would say you will need AA enabled in the game..like in my screenshot ....it will use the games AA and add 8X to it..
