Someone told me those cheats work but if you use them you can't advance from chapter 1 to chapter 2. Is that right?
And before you flame me for trying to cheat, I'm not the one using them. I'm trying to persuade someone not to.

That doesn't sound right at all.

The only case where this would have any ramifications is if you exported the character and then tried to import him into a multiplayer game, and even then that'd only be the case if you tweaked your stats in a permanent fashion.

It depends in part on which cheats perhaps. Using cheats to defeat encounters or avoid triggers could result in things like story-related variables not properly setting.

That's entirely possible, although it'd have to be using fairly advanced commands to do that.

You're safe if you stick to the simpler commands (like dm_heal, dm_givegold, or dm_setSTR).
