Hi All!

Yesterday I installed the Diamond Edition on my PC (Windows 10, built-in Intel HD Graphics) und it starts just fine. However when I try to start a game I get as far as the first time seeing the screen for a module loading and afterwards the game just lags, example:

I click on the Original Campaign, select the Prologue and start the Character selection. Then the module gets loaded and afterwards the swirling background takes several seconds to move a bit, the mous is the same but when I click on cancel and go back to the main menu everything runs smooth again including the swirling background.

I have tried already many tips that can be found in the internet and played around with a lot of the graphics and compatibility settings, nothing helped. The only thing I can't do is uninstall some Windows Updates as per the suggestions as it seems that this is no longer an option once one has the installed the Creators Update for Windows 10.

Maybe someone has any idea what I could do? Thanks!

When installing NWN on any system other than Windows XP, always

1) install in compatibility mode for XP sp3, and

2) install as administrator

When running the game, also run as administrator, and run in compatibility mode for XP sp3.

NWN relies on DirectX9c - you likely have a later version and these 'depricate' things NWN needs. Go to microsoft.com and download the SDK (Software Developer Kit) for DirectX9c, and install it (you can have more than one DirectX on installed).
Thanks for your reply, however I had already tried all that before posting here.

I have also noticed that the game suddenly works normally when I open the menu but as soon as I close it again I'm stuck and it is like a super slow slideshow again. Well I guess I am out of luck then..,.

IIRC, this a common problem running on Intel IGPs. I don't remember any specific solution curing it for everyone.

While modern Intel IGP is might be more powerful than some old graphics cards, the drivers aren't exactly set up for legacy games.
