Whenever I start up NWN there is no text in the boxes. I can still select things, but there is not text whatsoever besides the title. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey RJ, I had the same problem for a while and it was really annoying! I tried a bunch of things to fix it and eventually managed it, try the following:
- verify/repair installation (through gog galaxy) if you haven't already
- go to the installation folder; in nwplayer.ini set Client CPU Affinity=1 . This limits NWN to running on a single core (#1).
- set both nwnain.exe and nwconfig.exe to run in compatibility mode, XP service pack 2 (assuming you're on windows). I also checked 'disable display scaling on high DPI'
- run nwconfig and have it scan your system to detect graphics drivers
- if you're on a laptop, note that the screen refresh rate is usually 59Hz, not 60, but nwconfig doesn't seem to be able to tell the difference so you have to change that line manually: in nwn.ini set RefreshRate=59
- these probably won't make a difference but in nwn.ini I also set [Display Options] FullScreen=0, AllowWindowedMode=1, Disable Movies=1, Disable Intro Movies=1
