game loads and I can move the mouse but cannot select anything, nothing is higlighted

NWN gets in that state sometimes but not at load.

I usually just hit the alt key and that fixes it, but you might have something else going on.

I've experienced similar issues of the NWN1 game not communicating with an input device temporarily.

For whatever reason, I've lost my hotkeys on some loads. Has nothing to do with which module is loading, though I've never experienced it during on-line play. It's just in the past few months that this has begun to happen playing SP. Mine is a DVD install, btw.

I'll quit the game to desktop and then restart to restore the hotkeys. Most times it takes just one restart to fix things but it can take a few on rare occasions. Go figure.

Never had this happen with NWN2, but that doesn't mean that game might not start perfectly every time either.

If it becomes chronic, I suppose a clean reinstall might be warranted.
