Ya as good as nwn 2 is it still has a lot of game breaking bugs , just be careful of these i had to restart thrice at least because of bugs like cutscene not triggering , broken quest etc, Make good save backups at regular points do not depend on autosave

sear: I don't think the majority of these bugs are still in the game as of the latest update, but thanks for the list. :D
some of the issues are general and are never fixed

I seem to be having a rather irritating bug that I don't see mentioned on that site. I cannot create a new character. As soon as I click the "create new character" button when starting a campaign the game freezes and the music gets glitchy. (It's not just loading or anything. As soon as I click it the game stops using any of my cpu.)

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

If you need specs:
CPU - Intel Core 2 q9400 @2.66ghz
RAM - 8gb (4x2gb) 800mhz ddr2
GPU - 2gb nVidia GeForce GTX460

The only thing that I'm doing differently than most people might is running it windowed but I don't see how that would be causing my issue.

windowed should not cause it but have you tried the compatibility settings specially run as admin

It automatically runs as admin for me. It seems I might have solved it though. It looks like when I was changing my volume sliders I managed to change the sound provider and now it's loading the character creation screen. Not entirely sure why that would be the problem but it's working at least.

Awesome initiative!

Generally, most stabs in your back will be from scripts not leaving the bed for a visit to the potty. Cutscenes and change of scene/map are your greatest enemies (much like in NWN).
As always, save often and save your saves!
