After all these years of resignation about the camera issues in NWN2, recently Arem on NW Vault finally discovered how to increase the distance you can zoom out, e.g. from 22/25 to 50. It requires editing nwn2main.exe with a hex editor, but it's relatively easy to do even for tech illiterate noobs like myself, if you follow Lance Botelle's instruction here. Just remember to make a backup copy of the .exe before you mess with it.

Enjoy! :)

Zoom distance has never been an issue for me because of all the other problems I had with the NWN2 camera.
I might play the game if someone finds a way to create either a real 3rd person view or a real isometric camera instead of this "worst of both worlds" hybrid.

Well, YMMV, but for me the lack of zoom distance was a big part of the camera issues. It's hard to fight tactical battles if you can ony see a few meters ahead, and sometimes I couldn't even see where I was going when the camera bugged out on hills and only showed me the floor at my characters' feet and didn't let me zoom out further. Hopefully, that's a thing of the past now.

This is awesome, thanks!
This is great news. Thanks! I also believe camera zoom was way wrong. Thank you!
