At the moment I use a program called Tunngle with my friends. It makes you connect to eachother so you can play pretty much any game together in LAN mode. Really good!

The official MP servers are down, probably indefinitely...so I would recommend doing what I do, find a friend or two and do COOP multiplayer with them.

Also, you can view the list of servers here, but with the Client Extension you'll be able to browse them again in-game, even though the Master Server and Gamespy are no longer functional.
