I'm wondering if the GOG version of Neverwinter Nights Diamond can be modded. I tried it wit a texture pack and the unofficial 1.70 patch, but nether of them worked.

Is the GOG version modified, or did I do the patches wrong?
Things that modify the game's exe may or may not cause problems ( I honestly don't know if GOG made any serious changes there), but other than that there should be absolutely no problems with using mods (numerous modules, the CEP, etc have all worked perfectly for me with the GOG version).
Hmmm, if that is the case, then the problem might be on my end. Ether I did the work wrong or I didn't get a clean or correct copy.

Describe the mod. How are you installing it? NWN modding is not entirely intuitive. I am still a bit of a NWN n00b, but I suspect that you are trying to use a mod in a way it was not intended to be used.

Texture packs, for example, generally do not integrate into the existing campaigns; you have to build a new module to take use of them. (To the best of my knowledge.)

Yep, typically a module must be written specifically to make use of any new assets. I think there is a way to force all modules to make use of assets by putting them in the "override" folder, but it's been a while and I don't remember the precise mechanics of it.
It was a character texture pack(I wanted to change the look of the PC model a little bit), and I was using a patching program called NWN Packer. I used a CD version of the game and it worked just fine. I tried it on the GOG version and it didn't take.

Also, I forgot about the override folder with the game. Maybe I'll look at the instructions again and see what it says.

If the installer program had the expected location of NWN hardcoded into it then that might have caused the problem, as the GOG install path is different from the install path for the CD version.

Ok, so I had a realization: I have been using the nwmain.exe application, not the nwn.exe application, so I'm thinking that's why the texture pack won't load.

As for the patcher I was trying to use, I can't seem to find it all of a sudden, so I don't have any more information on that.
