I installed NWN onto a laptop with Windows 7 and it worked perfectly, out of box, first time. Upon trying to install it on my PC it's been a real bugger. The frame rate fluctuates the game stutters and moving the camera greatly exacerbates it.

I've followed several fixes on the forums:
The installation guide from Bioware forums
Compatibility mode
Disabling Catalyst AI
Several .ini fixes
binkw32.dll fix
Re-installing
Re-re-installing to different hard drive
Latest video and audio drivers
Switching up sound options in-game
Disabling shiny water

All to no change. Some things made it all worse, some made it crash more. Both the laptop and the PC are running AMD cards and windows 7. I've tried different combinations of the compatibility options (XP SP2/3, etc).

Is there a fix I'm missing?

edit:
System specs
Intel i7 3.01 ghz
AMD Radeon 6970 w/ Catalyst 12.3
6GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
5.1 Speakers w/ Realtek driver r2.68

What are the specs of the laptop you've installed it on? There may be some hardware difference that might shed some light on this.

Other than that, you can try the usual compatibility fixes, such as using XP SP2/3 mode, installing outside of Program Files, running as administrator (including the installer when installing), using single core affinity, disabling visual themes.
All I can think of is the installation of the critical rebuild patch...and turning off shiny water (which can be done in-game).

This is probably written in the guide also though.

Other than that I've just heard that the game can be tricky on AMD graphic cards sometimes ....
New drivers aren't always better drivers when it comes to 10 year old games.
