Nimmermehr7: Some questions here:

I want to organize my games but didn't find a folder system inside galaxy 2.0. Instead I read something about tags, but I wonder if these tags are public? Don't know if it's helpful when I tag games with "won't play again"
There is no folder System, but you can organize youir games by giving them tags. Then filter the "all games" section by a certain set of tags and save them into bookmarks. In this specific case you could also use the "hide game" functionaiity you get when you right click on a game cover in your library

avatar
Nimmermehr7: I was also looking for something like a "review" function for games which aren't on gog. Or at least a "note" function where I can write down my thoughts on that game. Am I missing something?

Last but not least I'm missing a feature to wishlisht games which aren't on gog. The only way I found was adding them to my library and add a "wishlist" tag to them, which didn't make much sense to me.

As you can see I'd love to use galaxy 2.0 as my ultimate game organizing tool, am I misunderstanding the concept of galaxy 2.0?
No one (except the devs) know what features are planned. I suggest to either create a feature request thread on the forum or try to revive one that has already been created for a certain feature - but to what effect > I have no clue

STOPchris1: You could probably start with, "are community integrations 100% safe?", "No". I believe that people are being blindly mislead on the security of these community integrations because of GOG's marketing campaign.
Hi!

Yeah, a point about how safe your account is if you are want to use a community integration?
I have over 1000 steam games on my acc. Should i just blindly type my pw into a program add-on
that made by a random "Nigerian prince"?
There are links into python api's, do you think average gamer joe can read that?

Thank you!

DerBesserwisser: There are currently no known plans for Linux support.
I did not see any mention of my questions in the FAQ, so forgive me if I missed something :

Q1. Can we completely disable the "Your Friends", so that it does not take up screen space, and there are no potential privacy / behaviour gathering / security issues ? .. And if we can will that also prevent other users tracking me in any way (online status etcetera) ?

Q2. Can we also disable the Cloud Syncing (before it starts syncing presumably by default after it auto updates the current GOG Galaxy) ?

Q3. Will there be any in your face advertising of games "You may be interested in .." netflix / steam style in your new client ?, and if so can we disable them ?

Q4. Will we be able to install it in a path of our choosing (ie not on the system drive, but for example on a different partition of the hard drive) ?

Q5. When GOG Galaxy 2 goes live (out of beta), and it updates the current GOG Galaxy, will the new EULA be presented for reading before it installs ?

Q6. On this page https://www.gogalaxy.com/en/ in the "Your Privacy" section, you state .. "No Spying - We'll never share your data with third parties". But then in the FAQ near the end of the same site, the question "I'm a GOG.COM user, whats new for me in GOG Galaxy 2.0?", and in the answer given you say "All features for third party platforms work for GOG.COM" - Is that a contradiction, or does it just need to be explained better ?

NB : In the questions above, when I say "disable" I do not mean just filter them out, I mean completely disable.

GenoCL: This is not exactly a question but I guess there's no way to start Steam games without launching Steam's launcher, right?
I mean I understand the limitations of having GOG Galaxy 2 integrate everything but waiting 5 minutes just to have a second launcher being executed is still a drag. I completely understand if there's no way around it.
Other than that, I'm loving GOG Galaxy 2.0 so far. I just wish I didn't have to have two launchers running at once.
avatar
DerBesserwisser: Unless its one of the rather few titles on Steam that is DRM-free, yes you will need the steam client as GOG can't just annul Steams DRM
I guess this is also true about programs you get through launchers like Origin and UPlay.
Odd that they advertise Galaxy 2.0 as the 'one launcher to bind them all' as if you never need another again but the reality is you do.
mind this is an unofficial FAQ, I am not a gog employee nor do I have access to any insider knowledge

Do not see were it takes up space in the application (except one entry in the list), but my guess is: no.
What issues are you concerned about ? You can control what other gog users can see by changing the settings in your profile on gogs website. But you will always give gog information about your beahvour as the games in your library will
always be installed from gogs server, not from a local drive/folder/repository.

alt3rn1ty: Q2. Can we also disable the Cloud Syncing (before it starts syncing presumably by default after it auto updates the current GOG Galaxy) ?
At least currently, its only possible to deactive cloud saves, but your library is always synced with gogs servers

No clue what the future holds, but for me this looks like a far stretch for gog. But you already have that somewhat in the "recent" screen that will show you what other players play currently, but its definately not "in your face" and you can just ignore that screen, by changing the "start screen" setting.

Thats already the case

alt3rn1ty: Q5. When GOG Galaxy 2 goes live (out of beta), and it updates the current GOG Galaxy, will the new EULA be presented for reading before it installs ?
No clue, how exactly it will be handled, but they are legally bound to make you aware of the changes in the clients EULA.

No, gog will aggregate data through their client - depending on your privacy settings and usage of the client the amount of data will change - e.g. if you use the Microsoft integration gog will know what games you own on xboxlive, if you activated game time tracking, they will know that too, etc. This data, that they aggregate themselves, will (according to this statement) not be shared with anyone - e.g. if you connect Galaxy with your xbox/live account, Microsoft won't suddently know whats in your gog library, or with whom you are interacting via gog services. But third parties will know when you do something using their services - if your start a game that is in your "xboxlive-pc" library MS will know.

Well, in my mind thats a combination of three factors:
- marketing speech: they want their own client to be more attractive
- what we call around here "betriebsblind": as drm-free is their usp, their are constantly aware that drm is a thing, while most people don't care/think about it, so they don't make the connection in their head that they can't just use another client.
- people not reading about what they are getting into, even if it is explained in a simply worded and short FAQ

I created an entire thread asking these questions before I even noticed this one, so I'll ask here as well. Though, it doesn't seem all that active.

I know we're still in beta, but I'm just wondering about a few features that I can't seem to figure out.

1. Shift + tab doesn't open the client while in game. Is it still limited to select games? Where can I go to change the hotkeys? I can't find it anywhere in the settings.

2. How can I access my profile to change backgrounds? Again, I can't find it anywhere in the settings. I can change my avatar, but I don't see any option to change backgrounds.

3. Is there any way to access a web browser from the client while in game? I'm assuming not yet.

4. I also can't seem to find a way to access the forums from the client, is this also a feature that's not integrated yet?

4.

There's a work around for this.
In Galaxy, goto "Store Highlights"
Goto a News item at the bottom of page, click on its comments, then navigate to the community page

Once there, click on the bookmark icon.

Not sure why its not integrated as standard yet

UPDATE: While you can post, the post window is Ancored top left and can't be moved. Guess thats why its not implimented as default yet

I just updated to 2.0, and it changed my library from a list view to tiles. It's quite possible I'm missing something but I can't find an option to change it back. Where is it, if there is one? Tiles take up too much space.

To the right side of the Search box is an icon with two slide bars, its an option under that
I can connect my Steam to GOG, and it updates and syncs my games and playtime... then it never updates again. I've removed and re-added Steam twice since I got GOG Galaxy late last year, and it never updates again. Since the majority of my playtime and activity is in steam, it's quite frustrating. I *want* to use GOG Galaxy (because I also have hundreds of games on other platforms), but this makes it difficult.

Has anyone else encountered this? I haven't found any results with searching Google or the forums.
What is the difference between Official and community integrations in the launcher?

only official is Xbox live, and it gets updated regulary. All others (Battle.net,Steam,Uplay,Origin etc..) are implemented by the community and is updated by the community now and then + you have to download them manually from github

Maybe I didn't ask clearly enough. That's on me. I read what it said, but what exactly is community integration? Is it literally random people coding for the launcher? I mean is there then any security risk attached, and why is it even in the launcher if it's not made by gog themselves. I didn't have to download anything from github. There were lots available under community, from steam to playstation to uplay etc.
Yes,it is literally random people coding it.And thats exactly why its a mess.IMHO security risks are pretty big.Sorry for github,i had to download battle.net that way long time age before it was automated.
