Man, does that bring the old memories back... Don't have a buddy to play it with, not even very good at it, but DAMN do I miss me some Worms.
Have a sheep! (then blow it up XD)
But you want to know something profound?
Worms is a game. You can win, you can lose, there are a specific set of rules and an almost infinite way of playing within those rules. You can play with another person or against the AI, without any substantial difference in the experience.
Most modern "games" are not games. They are interactive media. They have an established script that must be followed, they offer very limited and structured freedom, they can't be lost. Where these were once limited characteristics of adventure games, be they LucasArts or Myst-likes, they are now the "AAA" mainstream. And like these old games, once played through, there is no more incentive or reason to do so again. They can be discarded and forgotten, and the next week's release can be bought. You can still play monopoly or basketball to this day, and in the future, and you'll always enjoy them and never wonder why there's nothing new in them. You can't do that with an Uncharted game.
So, cherish your Worms releases, even if they're always the same bloody game over and over again. Because they're still
a game.
