I have to pick a game for under $6 but I can't decide... I've narrowed the list down for now to these: Arcanum or Silent Storm...
I have once tried Arcanum, but found the combat a bit tedious. I know virtually nothing about Silent Storm.

Dig around youtube for some Let's Play's of Silent Storm. One of the prominent videos does a good job showing what it's like.

Give Arcanum another shot. It's a great RPG in a nice Steampunk-setting. Combat is nothing special, I agree, but the rest of the game more than makes up for that little weakness.

I think Arcanum is worth it for the setting alone but then I've always thought steampunk was way cool.

HIGHLY recommended to install ALL of the recommended patches (not mods) in the sticky section at the sub-forum for a better experience!

Also, read up on mechanics as it's a b*tch to figure that stuff out yourself (the mechanics, not what to do).
