Yeah, that took very very thin cartridges with a much lower ROM capacity. I've forgotten what they were called though.

And don't even get me started on people calling cmd.exe "DOS".

Hmm, I haven't heard that about any Unix-like system. So I'll just take your word for it and revel in the pleasure that I have yet to experience this.

Command interpreter, command prompt, even terminal is better than "DOS", those three are generic terms though and do not specify a specific environment, but instead refer to various functions or parts of the application (but I barely bother discerning between them myself, so I can't complain about others not doing it either - my main source of irritation is using brand names for generic concepts; gladpack for plastic wrap, google for websearch, xerox for photocopy... or dos for any text-based or command-line interface).

I've been playing Donkey Kong Country 3, Golden Sun, and Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance all week! I intend on beating them all.

I have emulated SNES (a lot), N64, GBA, commodore 64, PS1 and PS2. And sooner or later I gonna try dolphin (NGC), 'cos I wanna play metroid prime.

Emulators are VERY important to the world IMO

Like i love my old games, But what if one day in 20 years time you cant find ANY of the games / consoles to play something on as there all broke and discs have started to fall apart

But also i love the fact that i can play PS2 games in full HD on my pc

Emulators represent a better means by which to play videogames, in my opinion. Removal of region restrictions, the ability to play somewhere other than the family television, savestates to make things quicker, possible fan-translations of games, and that they allow unknown games to be preserved for future discovery.

I am really hoping that videogame companies and emulator programmers would someday cooperate together to free games from being attached to any particular console, as I would love to pick up the entire Phoenix Wright series from GOG to play on my computer a decade down the road. Guessing not, though...goddess knows that Nintendo and Sony would sooner end up in bed together (again) in order to maintain their walled gardens.

Ooh, make sure you play Aria of Sorrow after HoD and The Lost Age after Golden Sun.

I love playing the old C64, Amiga & Speccy games

Use WinVice for C64, WinUAE for Amiga and ZXSpin for Speccy (ZXSpin is the only Speccy emulator I have got working on Windows 7 64Bit). All work great and bring back some great memories. I play through the System 3 games on the C64 quite regular, love the Last Ninja series and Vendetta. Music on Last Ninja 2 Central Park level is awesome.
