There's a book I read in primary school. It's surprisingly dark for a school setwork, touching upon such subjects as sweatshops and child prostitution. While discussing books I wanted to mention this one, but I just can't remember the title. Maybe someone here can help.

The story is about a small girl named Sky and her little brother, who are abandoned by their parents and take to living in a rubbish dump with other destitutes. They often need to evade the "catchers", whose job is to find and take away homeless children. The fate of the children caught by the catchers is never explained in the book, but the story is told from the perspective of children who assume the worst, so they come across as very sinister. I can't remember the little brother's name, there were also children named "Digger" and Sherry (or was it Cherry? Not sure).
