Shoelip: Also known as Eternal Sonata: The game world is actually a tuberculosis fueled hallucination Chopin has on his deathbed. You don't so much play Chopin as you do have him in your cast of characters along with the fully fictional characters that make up the majority of the cast.

Pretty awful as a game really, the concept sounded interesting and unique and instead it was a JRPG...

Wishbone: I've only read Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle's version of Inferno. That was pretty cool.

I agree with you on that, it's a great book.
I tried reading the book a few years ago and found it way to hard. Although I dont think the game will follow the book correctly I do hope that it at least gives some insite on what the finer points of the book were. Then maybe ill go read it.

I'm hoping so much this was a joke, and you just forgot to emphasize it with a smiley. Otherwise, you've just reinforced a lot of preconceptions about Americans that many Europeans have.
Mhm... what part does everyone seem to think is a joke?

MrEco: Mhm... what part does everyone seem to think is a joke?
the part where it shows a picture of YOUR FACE!
just kidding, the whole series of books is poking fun at christianity as it has become at that time.
Read it, and you'll get the full picture (OF YOUR FACE!).

Actually the joke is that we're saying we can't believe he could possibly be so naive. At least that's what my joke was.

Naive about what? You talking about when I said "I hope the game at least covers the finer points of the book"? Because if thats the part your talking about then I wasnt naive at all. I didnt say I thought the game was going to be honest to the book. I said I hoped it would be at least a little bit honest to the book. In fact I dont think it will follow the book at all,(excluding the title) but I do hope it will at least try. Is hope only for the naive?

The part where you expect a first person shooter by EA to give you insights into the finer points of the first book of the Divine Comedy, written by Dante Alighieri between 1308 and 1321 A.D.
It just perfectly embodies the (to Europeans) classical American attitude of "Nah, I'm not reading it, I'm waiting for the movie", except taken to much more extreme heights. Right now, I have all sorts of ideas about you, all overlaid with clips from the "Jaywalking" segment of The Tonight Show.

Yeah well i'll have you know that I didnt know it was a first person shooter. I thought it was gonna be a third person action game kind of like God of War. Also, read my other comment.

...And you think that makes a big difference, do you? What, because of the depth of the symbolism in kicking the living shit out of hordes of enemies? The only way they could do anything remotely containing faithful elements of Inferno would be to make a story-driven adventure/RPG like Planescape Torment.

...yes.
