I have a better idea. Change the white lion to a white hamster. Hamsters have huge razor sharp teeth. Trust me, I know. I've been attacked by one of these monsters in the past.

Concerning high standards in EU, Bulgaria (ex USSR territory) was annexed by EU and now they are screwed. Apparently those standards are high enough only in some countries? EU accepts new members, but price is high - countries have to abandon it's own industry, because EU doesn't need competitors among it's own landscape. And, yeah, you don't talk russian! ;)
PS: All of this reminds me of Stargate SG-1 sci-fi tv series, to be precise of it's episode 10 (season 5) called "2001". Superpower destroys whole worlds without single shot. Good one.
In Crimea, a region of one country very quickly held a referendum without debate with the remainder of the country and decided to join Russia in contravention of the 1994 Budapest Agreement.
As for the costs of joining the EU, going from a protectionist state to a free market does cause inefficient businesses to improve or close as they now have competition (that's why some industrialists in the East of Ukraine didn't want the EU deal - they produce sub-par goods which nobody would buy - think Lada - why would you buy a Lada when you can buy a Ford or a Merc?) In Bulgaria, they joined just before the largest financial crisis since the 1930s - so it's not really surprising that their economic growth has been depressed since.

I mixed it up with Moldavia. Was sleepy when posted this.
And, yes, there is no need to be an asshole, you know.
pds41: The accession of Bulgaria to the EU is a different concept to annexation (which is the seizure of territory) - Bulgaria was a process where the entire country entered into a drawn out and considered process to join what is effectively a free trade area (albeit one which since the early 1990s has been increasing its governmental functions - but that's a different debate). Additionally, the EU doesn't park military units in countries that are considering joining.
In Crimea, a region of one country very quickly held a referendum without debate with the remainder of the country and decided to join Russia in contravention of the 1994 Budapest Agreement.

Even worse then, as Moldavia is not tied to EU, not even talking about "annexed" in any "possible meaning". Dont post stuff clearly proving what you're truly delusional about things you're talking, and there wouldnt be any need in being "asshole" to you in return.

Exactly. Read it please. Tied =! have some relations. Also, for the future, it could be worthy to read some articles about meaning of word "annexation" too, to beat misunderstanding.
