I've been waiting for this! I own the original Gothic 2 and have been waiting to get NotR without the annoying DRM ever since I found out about GOG.
I thought the original G2 was difficult getting started, but I've heard the expansion makes it even harder. This should be interesting...

I'll probably pick up G2 this weekend. I never played the Gold version. I have a disc copy of the original version somewhere in my closet. I think I got frustrated with it after a while because I felt a bit lost and the UI was very odd. However, I do have a favorite game moment to share: I was wandering around a town, looking for things to do and I heard a strange noise coming from the side. I turned around and a guy was peeing against the town wall. It was astonishing and hilarious. I wish I could have gotten a screencap.

Think I'll give at least 2 Gold a try. I'm not much of a western RPG player, but the game reminds me of my old D&D days put into computer form.

I've bought both of them ~3 month before G3 release.
I've finished G1 and was really enjoyed of it. After I've start to play in G2(+NotR) and dunno why but it was kinda suxxx. I've played 3-4 hours and after deleted it. I know that everyone like G2, but hell. Maybe it's because of I've start playing G2 imedeatly after G1. You know, I was like full of knowledge about that G's world and G2 was too much. So never touched G2 since then...

Are you saying #2 was almost like a repeat of #1? I haven't played either and was curious what you didn't like about #2.

Not repeat, but like my vial was full of G's unverse. Like I need a rest from that version of fantasy. But I was never able to try it again, have none desire to do it, till now.
