If the free game for the 100th release on GOG.com wasn't enough of surprise for you, we're giving you a sneak peek at our new feature - Virtual Game Shelf 2.0
From time to time, Destro is tossing some info about the upcoming "Update 2", but it seems we'll see a cool, new feature before the big update will launch. GOG.com's Design&Development Team is proud to give you the first look at brand new [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/30112304@N03/3404345660/sizes/o/]Virtual Game Shelf in version 2.0. Now your shelf will get covered in dust and litter with trash, the games you play the most will get your fingerprints on their boxes and if you won't look after your shelf, spiders will spin their webs. Luckily you'll have an anti-dust spray to keep everything fresh and clean and you'll be able to add a personal touch by placing your favourite action figure or a teddy bear from your girlfriend. I'd definitely like the feature of keeping cases on their sides but having looked at the photo i was wondering how the link frames would be done for the diagonal leaning boxes.
I can't be bothered to keep my real shelves clean but I'd buy a few dozen cans of that anti dust spray if it were a real product!

What if they had the option to squish the octopedal bastards with the game cases? I could imagine myself shouting "Taste Fallout, Bitch!" as I squashed virtual spiders'...

I also want to change the type of wood used in the shelf. V 2.0 looks suspiciously hardwood-like, and we all know how bad hardwood is for the environment.

I asked designers to made also girls version of the shelf (with pink flowers, dolls, diamond engagement rings and etc) but they told me that nobody will like that :/

Nah, but if this shelf doesn't have a feature where you try to keep your annoying sibblings from stealing your games, then this will be fail.

An actual April's Fool joke that isn't a bad idea. Being able to put your games in sideways for those of us with lots of games isn't a bad idea.
