So the new consoles are almost ready to go which in return means we´ll hopefully see a further improvement in graphics etc. My PC is now 4 years old and allthough it can run games like Witcher 2 and Metro Last Light on high settings without much problems I´m still thinking about upgrading my graphics card.

So far I´m using a GeForce 460 GTX OC along with a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz, 8GB DDR2 800MHz RAM on a Asus P5QL-E. Will I get any performance upgrade while using cards from the current generation? i´m thing in a pricerange to up to 300€. Or is my processor that old, that it wouldn´t make much of a difference?

Hope someone could help me out with this. As a incentive I´m giving away one of any game from the latest EA humble Bundle.

Indeed, I'm in a similar situation. I have a Radeon HD 4660 and I won't be upgrading it as the processor is barely slower than the one the OP has. And the processor itself is usually thing thing preventing me from playing newer games.

Rather than wasting money on a GPU that's not going to have much impact, I'd definitely recommend saving the money and doing a full upgrade. for 300, you can probably get a lot more bang for the buck by buying a new CPU and all the things that fit into it. After you scavenge the parts, like the HDD and GPU.
My advise is also to save and purchase a whole upgrade to avoid weakest link-scenario.
