So I have been thinking of upgrading my CPU from an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ to a 6000+
The 6k runs at 125W and I have a 9800gtx+ and the minimum system PSU for that card is 450w altho its max power is listed as 141w. Im wondering if my 550W psu will be able to handle the new cpu. I also have 2 hard drives and 1 dvd-r drive. What do you guys think?

550 W should be sufficient for that CPU/GPU combo, provided that the PSU performs to its specs. If you can, see what brand the PSU is just so we can confirm if it's a reputable brand or something that's going to start blowing capacitors the moment it reaches 80% of its maximum load.

Its a BFG Tech LS-550 Quad 12V SLI Ready PSU.
BFG isn't a major manufacturer of PSUs, and the actual voltage outputs from their power supplies often aren't quite is tight as they should be. However, if you've been using this PSU for a while already without any problems then I'd consider it unlikely that increasing the maximum load by 60 W is going to cause any issues.
Thanks a lot. Going to see if i find it locally if not order on ebay. :D
