Miaghstir: OoC information

The reason Aliasapha's character had a DC check was because she was checking for suspicious looking people. Either the check passed that she managed to confirm there wasn't any 'thieves' about or she passed it because the character currently doesn't know any better.

I know, I know, just making sure I shouldn't make a check to see if my body weight crushes the pallet and wakes half the room, consequently causing trouble as a dozen people curses over the "stupid fumbling orc" who broke their sleep and chases us off into the night.

Haha! No you're fine. If you wanted to search every tom, dick and harry in the building, that would be a different matter :D

Okay everyone, I'm going to explain some character information to you in here so you guys can get to talk in character in the RPG thread.
All three of you have only just met because of one reason. A Landlord (Garral Storegrain) has been having trouble with a small hamlet called Pick. Its a simple farming community with a Market, from which their wealth and living is made. What they trade is good quality, but producing has dwindled of late, and the citizens have become jumpy. The Landlord (Garral Storegrain) has seen his profits running thin, but when he has visited Pick to lay down the law, the town elder is blaming it on a cursed field which has been ruining Pick's crops.
Apparently local merchants have gotten wind of the situation too and have started avoiding the town, for reasons of superstitions and not wanting to buy bad rice and livestock. If something isn't done the place is going to be a copper pit for Garral Storegrain and he doesn't want that.
Now, you three can write any backgrounds you like, making up locations, family, history etc etc, I really don't mind! In fact I really want you to all think about fleshing out your characters.
Besides that you've all ended up for hire through hook or by crook; this is the reason why Storegrain has sent you to Pick. On his short visit he has found out that the farmers are barely using half of their fields, letting most go fallow. He threatened the elder and the senior farmers to sort the problem out or he'd send his men down to Pick and start collecting. Seems like Storegrain's bark is worse than his bite, as he has hired you three to investigate and solve the problem.
You have been given permission to use deadly force if necessary - he just wants Pick's good reputation back and Copper to flow from its Market.
Any questions adventurers?

Can you explain the background of the region a bit?
For example "You realise this farming community are clearly early risers, and assume that the 4th sun will rise soon. " Just how many suns are there?
Also what sort of racial problems are there? Clearly there's an orc thing going on but you mentioned that people hadn't noticed my character being an elf, are they mistrusted as much as orcs? More importantly would my character know whether or not this is an issue?

Aliasalpha: Can you explain the background of the region a bit?

Sure can.
Ulemoon is the region you are currently in. Pick, which is part of chain of hamlets and towns, spans East to West in a jagged line along the copper road. The landscape is one of steppes, ergo the farming is much like you'd expect, a terraced series of fields with the mass product being rice. Livestock is farmed as well, mostly pigs and sheep, but a few aurochs are kept for meat and milk.
Far to the East is the land of Perzurza, and to the West is the Rust Ocean, a bustling and prosperous coast line. You're about half way between the two.
You met the Landlord on his estate a few miles from Pick, and you travelled there from your respective home. You're new to this adventuring lark - but its up to you to decide why.

There are 7 suns and 5 moons. Each one has its own name, but they vary from region to region. As an Elf you're clan would have its own names and mysticism attached to each heavenly body.

There is as much as a racial problem as their is a racial problem in our world, but maybe a bit more wide spread. Orcs were a major problem years ago, there was a large scale war between Men and Orcs which unsettled the Copper road, but you can find out more about this through character development.
The elves are a rare race, they're the ones who first occupied the world making it great. The generally accepted rumour is that the steppes are because of a war between the elves and the gods, the land was once flat and prosperous - but now men must toil to scrape a living. That said, its a rather fairy tale idea and there is no real hatred towards elves in general. Just remember barely anyone has seen an elf in their life, but you fit in with ease until they notice your ears. You'd know your more of a wonder than a threat, like seeing a tiger in the wild in real life.
