If the thread is getting long, surely quoting the OP would be helpful to avoid confusion.

This is what I am used to as well. I still quote anyway, since I've tried too many times to reply to a post, and while I was typing up mine, someone else posted, so suddenly it wasn't the post directly above mine anymore.

i am used for this too, no quote means last post, if i want to say in regarding of OP, then i write OP

I try to make posts that can't be taken out of context like that..
