Apogee Software / 3D Realms
- shooters (Apogee fits for publishing many FPS such as Duke Nukem 3D and Rise of the Triad: Dark War, aka ROTT)
- when it's hot, I like to take a dip (developers of ROTT referred to themselves as "The Developers of Incredible Power.")
- hungry like a wolf (ROTT was developed on a heavily modified Wolfenstein 3D engine and of course Apogee published Wolfenstein 3D itself)
- Aim for the STARS (Stargunner was published by Apogee)
- we've got a bleeder (Achievement in ROTT for using all the healing items known as "Bleeder Bonus")
- gibs galore (ROTT, one of the earlier games to feature gibs, along with Duke Nukem 3D)
-Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today. (refrence to Doom originally having supposed to be pubished by Apogee, but after a discussion id Software decided Apogee would no longer publish any of their games.)
- PUMP UP THE JAM (Blake Stone games were developed by "JAM Productions" and published by Apogee)
-On the weekends I get drunk and play Rock Banned (Duke Nukem 3D was published by Apogee and banned in Brazil.)
-battle the evil flame of metal ("Nasty Metallic Enforcer," a boss from ROTT that fires multiple heat-seeking missles and projectiles.)
Not to mention, shortly after the contest was announced GOG updated it to allow more people to have a chance after Apogee was guessed 5 times. Vandal's post came soon after two of the last five Apogee guesses were posted, likely after realizing their contest was over as they were still coming up with more clues. 8D
Some info stolen from an earlier post by TheCombine and can be found/verified on Wiki, mostly from
and [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rise_of_the_Triad]here, except for the part about Duke Nukem being banned in Brazil, found
here.
With all but one clue fitting pretty well on just two wiki pages...it's got to be Apogee Software / 3D Realms. But I guess we knew that by now...so stop guessing other companies already! =)
Edit: If you're still not convinced, the new clue is "year of the dog," a refrence to
Shadow Warrior (and possibly Prey which was published by 3D Realms and released in 2006, the
year of the dog. I picked Prey up awhile back for 10 bucks, good game, and the price fits.
Edit 2: Scratch that, Vagabond's right, another ROTT clue.
