I still have TA & Core Contingency on CD-ROM from back in the day... I tried to install them on Vista 64-bit and while the install went OK, the executable won't fire up.
It would be totally cool if you guys could resurrect Total Annihilation in your trademark style - compatible! :)
(It's a shame Cavedog is defunct but Chris Taylor is still alive and well and making games with Gas Powered Games... I'm sure he'd be happy to lend a hand and make some fresh revenue on his old baby...)
this was the coolest game of the early 90's the arm and the core , however i think that supreme commander is the better game
Absolutely, the whole experience was ramped up but you still had that huge robot feeling to it.
I still have fond memories of this one amazing battle I had with my roommate back in the day. I didn't know at the time that the Krogoth, despite being 100m tall, couldn't walk through water... I had six of them and built a transport. I innocently asked "umm, so what do you do if a unit is too big to fit in the transport but you need to get it across water?"
He, knowing more about the units than I, knew exactly what I had, so he flew a transport plane to my base, captured a construction unit of mine that was on the fringe not doing anything, brought it back home, captured it with his Commander and then started building his own Krogoth, knowing that i'd have to re-build my army on his side of the pond before I could attack.
Well, I was lazy in doing that and before I knew it, I had Krogoth coming to see me! Talk about an unexpected turn of events. We still talk about that encounter to this day!
