But Dragon's Lair IS a terrible game...

The ultimate QTE experience and nothing more. Also, a die fest.

The other ones? For example, I don't like Gears of War, but I acknowledge the fact it's a good game. Just not my style, simple as that. The same goes for Halo. Or Call of Duty (yes).

The weird thing about GoW is that according to its premise it should be exactly my kind of game and I still ha... heavily dislike it. :P It may be solid but for me it's also incredibly uninspired.

I just prefer old style shooters. I'm not really a "duck, cover, shoot a few rounds, move to another cover" person. I'm rather a "strafe motherfuckers to death!!!!!" type :P

wizardtypething: Maybe it's indicative of how little I interact with other people, but I've never seen that happening. I don't doubt that it happens, though.

I thoroughly encourage people to have opinions, it's just the 'you're wrong, and are therefore a cunt because you choose the WRONG entertainment' attitude some people seem to have that rubs me up the wrong way.

As for stuff being overrated, I don't see much of this overrating going on, then again I don't actually read much of the gaming press; certainly things get overrated in professional circles (IGN etc), but it depresses me that people seem to have more ire than love for videogames, I don't really understand why someone wouldn't say 'This clearly isn't for me' and leave it at that.

I suppose it's something to do with having paid for it. Seems reasonable enough, I suppose, but some people *really* cling onto so hard that it's no longer constructive and hard to take seriously.

Criticism is ultimately important, but there's a limit to how much it can go on before it can be useful.
This.

Crowseye: So basically this thread is extending the "You didn't say 'IMO'!" game to some editors on a gaming website because we're offended they gave reasons we didn't like for calling our beloved games overrated? Just making sure.

Because Wii Sports was meant to be a "multiplayer" experience shared with friends or family ranging in age from like 5 to 80. Yet Mr. Fisher completely refuses to acknowledge that element in assessing the entertainment value of that game by arbitrarily labeling it "boring" and "ridiculously easy" as if it was the most worthless thing ever. He probably was playing the game alone because his family hates him and he has no friends.
