Destro: I don't know what's causing that problem for you but it's not on our end - we haven't made any changes on the servers or anything related that could cause this.

No, I've gathered as much by now, thank you ;-)

Reckon I've just seen what did cause it

I'm partially expecting to see that kind of action classed as 'terrorism' in the near future. The amount of damage, and how far it spreads worldwide can be impressive.

I thought the whole point of the Internet at its inception was to create a redundancy fall-back plan, in case one nuke hit one place, they'd still have everything.
Yeah it was but the threat of nuclear devastation has lessned slightly since DARPANET was made, people feel safe putting all their eggs in one basket again. Besides, why pay 20 IT technicians to administer alternate sites in different cities when you can have 1 underpaid guy driving all over the one town whenever the green light on a router turns orange?
Sad to think that it was probably just copper thieves (damn that sounds so D&D doesn't it? Kind of thing you'd get in sigil) that broke the wrong cable

"Aww, man! Ain't no copper in this stinkin' cable!" :-D
But where are GOG's servers hosted? The company is located in Poland, and as far as I know, their payments go via Cyprus. I'm in Denmark. If I'm routed through San Francisco to get to GOG.com, their servers must be in Alaska or something. I know that the geographical location of routers is not that important, but still...
By the look of a whois search, its hosted in montreal or at least iWeb, the hosting provider, is there
Odd information you can get from whois, I now know the location of GOG's Cypress office (even though there's a typo in the city name) including the floor and office number.

The spelling nazi strikes again... It's Cyprus. A cypress is a tree ;-)

Let's unexpectedly walk in and pretend we own the place.

Quite true, surprised I didn't see that myself.
I was briefly overcome with an idea about GOG being such a distributed organisation because its really a shell company for a major international tax evasion scheme hidden under the veneer of a cool game distribution business. I was probably too busy thinking about ways I could cash in on it and didn't proofread
Besides, THEY spelled the city wrong, I can spell the country wrong!
