Aliasalpha: Well yeah, I don't expect much competition for Mafia 2 really, the first one one of the most stylish and awesomely polished games I've ever played (that and PoP Sands Of Time)

I hear that. It beat GTA 3 into a bloody pulp. The storyline alone managed that much. The car physics and damage modelling beat even the racing games of the time. I have every confidence that Mafia 2 will beat GTA4 just as hard.
It's out in a bit (now if you count the torrents and early store releases) and there's a chance to snag a free copy on Pandemic's Twtter profile. If I don't win (very likely) then I plan to snag a copy for cheap on the HK EA store which has the game for too cheap.

How much is it? Think it's £35 on the UK store. At that price I'll wait and see what the reviews are like.

Around 23 pounds then. It's $300 in HKD.

michaelleung: Jeebus! The system requirements for the game have been released and it's huge!

Damn it all!
Will have to pick it up as a cheapie, if it's still around by the time I have money to upgrade.
Still glad that I didn't get a Pentium D when I built my PC, though. =P

anjohl: Nobody ever tries to make Guerilla warfare games, sadly.

Definitely not enough developers go that way.. Though you could try out Freedom Fighters. Not exactly on the same level as Saboteur, but still a nice action guerilla warfare romp. Well, guerilla at heart anyway.

Lucibel: My heart sank when you said they were huge, but the minimum req is dual core so I'll be alright. Let's just hope it's not poorly optimised like GTA IV, where the game actually needs 8x the system requirements...

Well that's the thing, isn't it? "Minimum requirements" is dev-speak for "anything lower and it won't even start", while "recommended" is "anything lower and it's unplayable".
I'll definitely be giving this one a miss. Games like this seem to just get piss poor console ports. The fact that there's no longer a Pandemic to develop the necessary patches just seals its fate.
A word of warning: the PC version has serious problems on ATI cards. If you have an ATI GPU steer clear of this game until there is a patch for it--with Pandemic in a sort of undead state at the moment (most staff laid off with only a skeleton crew remaining) this might be late or even never.

Jesus, I'm never going to buy an ATI card.
Anyways, looks like it might be fun, but it does look a bit generic. Hopefully it doesn't fall onto the mindless side of the third-person shooter.

Aliasalpha: I just watched a trailer and I think I'll be crossing it off my christmas list, looks a bit too 'generic 3rd person shooter'

From IGN:
"But boil it down to the gameplay and you're left with a good chunk of clumsy third-person shooting with bits of awkward driving. The Saboteur borrows plenty of great elements from other games, but doesn't execute on them as successfully. That's not to say there isn't fun to be had because there's plenty. It just isn't as well constructed as many other similar games on the store shelf."
Yeah I was reading a few reviews that implied it was basically what I was afraid of, I'll keep it on my list though, I'm curious enough to see it but have enough reservations to not want to pay for it...

That's been my mantra ever since I borrowed a mates x800. Never had good luck with ATI gear in the past and that one was a piece of shit. Since the merger I'd be even less likely to trust them because the "hmm ati are a bit dodgy" is now combined with "hmm amd are a bit dodgy"
