Most of us are probably aware that GOG is only doing surprise releases on the regular release days (tuesdays and thursdays), this is mostly fine with me.... except that the "Coming soon" section is completely neglected.
You can only keep the tension up with surprise releases for only so long until it kills the whole idea of surprises; by know we know that all upcoming releases are surprise releases and we've become accustomed to the notion.
Coming soon -releases add a whole 'nother type of suspense of waiting for a game you might love. Having a bad day at work or just a day of bad luck is easily countered by knowing GOG is releasing one of your favourite games later today. It's not like this for surprise releases which get you as easily let down or as delightfully surprised; coming home of that bad day at work then getting a release of a game that's not for you, it doesn't really change the situation.
Well this ended up a bit rambly, but all I'm saying, please GOG, find a better balance with surprise releases and "coming soon" releases. The best of both worlds.

Agreed. One day, I bought the Guild, when two days after that a game I really wanted came up. The Guild was fun nonetheless, but with warning, I would've saved for that game,,,
Well, seeing Interstate '76 appear on the coming soon list, I do hope that GOG will start putting more unbelievably fantastic titles in there in the near future as well.
The "Coming Soon" list was pretty much put on hold for the "Month of Activision". Once that is over, I'm sure we will see the return of the usual 2 or 3 coming soon titles listed.
This topic is overdone...they've explained multiple times why the coming soon list is not used so much. It basically comes down to unpredictability -- better for it to be a surprise than have you waiting months, or have to remove it altogether in case of something unfixable.

Please link to any explanation by the GOG team.
We've had games sit on the "coming soon" page for literally months due to compatibility problems. That also defeats the purpose of a "coming soon" section since by the time it might actually be released, people are fed up with the wait.

There is a game in the coming soon list, actually.

Yes, finally, I might add.

If GOG keeps releasing at least 2 games per week at a steady pace, I think (and hope) they can balance between coming soon announcements and surprise releases. Maybe a surprise release on Tuesday, with a coming soon announcement (for a new game or a new publisher) for the following Thursday release.

The way it used to be was new games were only released on Tuesdays, while announcement of upcoming games and new publishers were only made on Thursdays, usually for the following Tuesday. Now it seems that games and/or announcement can come on either Tuesday or Thursday, it just depends on what GOG has ready. I think the current way is probably a bit better for GOG, since they won't fall into the problem of announcing a game as "coming soon" only to have it not be ready for months. Frankly, I'd rather see the whole "coming soon" side of things go away. I find it much more exciting not knowing what is coming and would be perfectly happy with "coming soon" announcements only when truly necessary.
I quite like the upcoming section, but i don't think they should put dates. And they definitely shouldn't rush out games just to meet a Coming Soon deadline.
Isn't the case the same with surprise releases, they have the same exact deadlines. The only difference is that with "coming soon" releases they probably have the release all set up and can chill out for the few days.

I doubt that's the case for some previous "coming soon" titles that sat there for a few months.
