Errr... I don't even know how to start... well I wanted to play a bit so I launched Stronghold HD and... well... when the menu was loaded I've heard: "Only ten more shopping days till Christmas, my Lord!" That was just weird... but very funny on the other hand. I love developers with a sense of humor. If you own the game check it out yourself!
ha nice!

I've played a few games that do things like this.

I'm currently playing through dirt 2 again and when December came along i was able to use a little Christmas tree ornament in the car, as well as a little Christmas tree appearing in the trailer.

I also remember that Rise of the Triad has several little extra visuals depending on what holiday you play it on.
If I recall correctly, Dungeon Keeper has certain levels that are only available at certain phases of the moon. It also gives various different messages at startup for different holidays.

The difference is that Dungeon Keeper is humorous game entirely while Stronghold seems to be a serious game so I really didn't expect things like that.

The other funny thing is I've just checked Stronghold Crusader and there is nothing like that there... I wonder why...
Ha, I love things like that! It's the tiny attentions to detail that make me happy. :D

Yeah, that's true! I love it as well but my first reaction was something like that

Bahaha! Yeah, I can imagine.

But your earlier point is also true: it's a serious game and you wouldn't expect it. While that can be what makes it oh so very awesome, it can also be an immersion breaker... I guess it depends a lot on the game.

This! But in case of Stronghold it was pretty funny!
The You Don't Know Jack games would often make comments based on how many players / the time of day / the date etc in it's introduction... they were always quite fun :)
Nice!
Guess I'll start up my Stronghold once I get home.
Enemy pc's have been due an asswhooping for a while now.

And so the number of Stronghold players will increase... ;)
Heh Heh..that's great. Love that kind of stuff too :D
I love these little kind of things that devs put in their games

For example: In Castlevania: Portait of Ruin, if you play on the date which is registered in your DS as your birthday, you can buy a large cake from a merchant

My favourite one has to be the installer of Warcraft 2

"Your soundcard works perfectly"
Rise of the Triad will put a hat on each character depending on the holiday.
