I managed to finally finish Still Life yesterday, and oh boy was it good. Though the ending was a tad infuriating, but as a whole, the game was one fun ride. The main character(s) were wonderful, and Gus' story was... well, you know.

I then started up Still Life 2, and so far I'm loving it, though I hate timed puzzles. They changed the voice actor for Vic, but she's still written to be her snarky self, which is perfect.

Are there any plans to continue this series, or is this it?

Also, what do you think of the series? Are there any other games similar to this, as this really peaked my interest.
Have you played Post Mortem? Afaik it is the prequel to Still Life.

No, but I do know the game. I started with Still Life, so going to Post Mortem seemed a bit... unnecessary. Maybe I'll give it a go after/if I beat Still Life 2.

Don't be quick to judge what you haven't tried!

That's what my wife said too, when I met her.

What? Why are you looking at me like that?
No one else likes these games?
I have soft spot for Still Life because it has an unique atmosphere. Too bad that creators dropped the idea of scene investigation so fast. And oh man, how I hated the famous grandma's recipe.

Still Life 2 has also very interesting mood and setting but well, they tried too hard. I won't spoil it for you.

Frater pointed out Post Mortem and if you look for something of similar taste, this is it more or less. I would say that Art of Murder might interest you but I was never able to finish even one episode.

And maybe the newer indie game Cognition. It's indie, so writing is lacking at times and it isn't so dark but it's adventure game about a cocky female detective investigating series of murders too.

As far as I know, SL2 probably killed the series. I won't spoil it for you, but SL was OK (not great for me)... and SL2 was absolutely horrible.

Can you tell me, without spoiling, what made it horrible for you? I'm quite enjoying it so far...
I've played Post Mortem, and I wouldn't actually recommend it. Still Life is so detached from it that I think the developers were right not to call the sequel Post Mortem 2. Post Mortem suffers from a variety of problems; there are multiple solutions for some of the problems, which increased development time without actually making the game any longer, so it's a rather brief experience at best. The beginning is interesting enough, but some moments later the story becomes lacklustre. The voice acting is poor. Oddly enough, I can't remember there being a bad puzzle in Post Mortem, but the mechanics of one were recycled in the appalling brownie-baking thing of Still Life which mildly annoys me still. I wouldn't necessarily call it a bad game, but it's not particularly good either.

I know that Still Life is far from perfect as well, but for some reason I found its flaws easier to overlook - probably because my main gripe is with a few puzzles rather than the story.

My gripe with Post Mortem was that from a certain moment it was all about puzzles and it forgot to motivate a player, offer me answers to "Why should I keep playing?". I felt like playing urban Myst. Still Life seems to be more dedicated to tell the story first and support it by puzzles.
I loved post mortem an still life when they came out, thought still life was one of the coolest adventure games ever but when the second one came out I just couldn't get into it, something seemed really off to me.
The Black Mirror series is also very good.
I hated post mortem, it wasn't that fun and it felt a bit pixel hunting at times.

SL1 was great story but sometimes a bit too simple. I have yet to play SL2 due to an error on my machine but I do what to play it (I have it here on GOG)

Overall low quality of pretty much everything from graphics, sound, etc. But I can tolerate subpar technical aspects. The story itself takes a real nose dive it's not even funny.
