Just saw this on Slashfilm.
I'm one of the few people who actually liked it, but this review is pretty funny.
Just watched the entire 70 minutes of it, pure genius. Also very insightful at the same time as being really weird. That guy needs to make a movie.
Hilarious!
Skeletons in his basement, and a hooker he's about to off? :o
Makes more sense than the actual film ^_^
I remember walking out the theater after watching it halfway. It was so bad I couldn't believe it. I'd rather watch the Star Wars Holiday Special.

You're not the only one, I like TPM for what it really is, pure entertainment. But I also agree that, on a pure cinematographic aspect, this movie has a lot of troubles. I particularly agree on the fact that the characters are not really emotionnaly connected to the (thin) story, they just follow events as they come.
Unforunately, I have no sound here at work, will check this out at home.
Part 5 focuses on the real “Phantom Menace” which is Qui-gon Jinn. His character makes no sense as do his actions.

I strongly disagree on this. I think Qui-Gon may be the only character who is not so badly written, and is very well played by Liam Neeson. In fact, it's one of the mistakes done with this movie, Qui-Gon is the main character, as it should have been Anakin (older of some years if possible...).

Interesting and i agree with most of it. However, I still like Qui-gon no matter what. It must have been his long hair and long green saber. =)

For me, it's the fact that he's played by Liam Neeson. Liam Neeson is such a badass. Even when he's reading shitty dialog, he makes you believe every centimeter of it, because if you're not agreeing with him, you're just as likely to get your nose torn off your face.
Pretty dead-on. One of the best lines: "The characters of Qui-gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi could have been combined into one character called... Obi-Wan Kenobi."
The only thing mildly interesting in the prequel trilogy was the machinations of the emperor coming to power... but pretty much nothing in the Phantom Menace contributes to that plot line significantly.

Agreed. Also, the concept of "we MUST bring back as many known characters as possible" was a mistake. The suspension of disbelief can only go so far, and for me it broke down completely when I realized that Anakin had built C-3PO.
I have to wonder if c3po and r2d2 even remember him and know that he is darth vader. I never saw episode 3. One day I'll get around to it.

Not to mentioned the character was calm and knew how to operate in any situation. He came off as a master no matter what he said. Also dropping off in separate airships is not a bad idea as they didn't know were they were going to land and if one was closer to the palace then he would have to take care of things while the other cached up. Plus at that point, Obi-wan was at the point to become a Jedi knight so he had the ability to take care of himself. Though Qui-gon gin and obi wan in the original trilogy are more alike in personality and actions compared to obi-wan of the new trilogy.

Such a great video(s)
watch his Star Trek reviews, he reviews 3 crappy star trek movies, but theyre 40 instead of 70 minutes.
